Technology
Producing nonwovens by means of the
MeltBlown process is based on a patent from Exxon.
A polymer is melted, formed into endless filaments by means of a spinneret and a row of capillary boreholes, and then extended by hot air streams applied from both sides. The porosity of the MB nonwoven material can be influenced by adjusting the distance between the die and point where the filaments are deposited. This also has an effect on barrier and filter properties.
